Born in Istanbul, Turkey Seda Aybay began dancing since the age 5. Her dance foundation started with French, German & Russian Ballet techniques. She was able to take the exams of The Royal Academy of Dancing/England and finished them successfully.

Seda has trained, performed and choreographed internationally in Modern, Jazz & Tap dance forms. She later founded and directed her own dance company Les Chats de St. Michel in Turkey, which won her three nation vise first place prizes in the Milliyet dance competitions 1996 and 1997.

She came to the United States 1998 and attended Santa Monica College where she performed with the Synapse Dance Theatreî and Folklorico de SMC. She studied world dance, and began assisting the salsa classes at SMC while teaching at the Dance Factory in Santa Monica. Through fusing modern dance with Latin dance forms, her intercultural choreography won the Chancellorís Performance Award in Dance given by University of California, Riverside. Once she received her Associate of Arts Degree with Honors in Dance from Santa Monica College, she transferred to UCLA World Arts & Cultures, and received her B.A in dance/choreography with honors. Aybay performed with Ney Nava Dance Company, Liliana de Leon Torsielloís Flamenco Dance Company, is featured by KTLA channel 9, Univision Kmex 34, Fox 11 at the Morning News as salsa dancer, and was invited back to SMC several times as a guest choreographer to create salsa, tango, cha-cha-cha to Folcklorico de SMC. As a young artist Seda always took active part in different community projects such as Arts Bridge Program of UCLA, Marina Del Ray Middle School performance magnet, and D.A.R.E program by giving dance classes, organizing and choreographing dance performances at different elementary and high schools in Los Angeles.

Spring 2003, Aybay created her collaborative work 3 uc at the Electric Lodge/ Venice, which represented American, Turkish, and El Salvadorian women lives, cultures, and motives through series of stories. Then she left for New York to spend the summer 2003 with the Alvin Ailey School intensive program and performed in their repertory work. After her return from New York, Seda found Kybele Dance Theater, where she began her career as a promising young artistic director and company choreographer.

Spring 2004, she performed with Alex De Silva's dance group at the International Salsa Congress / Los Angeles, organized by Albert Tores. Later, summer 2004, Seda took the producer role and staged "Kosem Sultan" a true life story of an important queen during Ottoman Empire, and "Purpose of Life" a personal search about existence. Inviting to collaborate, choreographers such as Shin Yu Wang (Chinese dance), Cynthia Molnar (modern ballet), and Reggie Brown (modern jazz) under the name "B1R" she presented her work at the Electric Lodge/ Venice. In fall 2004, Seda worked as soloist for Sera Burgesís modern/ post modern work.

Than in winter 2005, Seda accepted to be a guest choreographer in Ms. Burgesís production and created 4SEASONS which portrayed different characters, relations, and stories of people who happened to go to same park over the years. In 2005 spring Seda produced and choreographed ELEMENTS, at the Morgan-Wixson Theater. During summer 2005, Aybay is featured at Praxis Project. Later, she joined to Lula Washington Dance Theater, performing, at the Ford Amphitheater, Hollywood /California, and touring with LWDT to Las Vegas, Nevada. Seda also had the opportunity to work as a performer with important choreographers such as Christine Chrest, Scott Putman, and Rudy Perez.

2006 Aybay created her new vison "Hopes and Dreams" and staged it on different theaters in Los Angeles. Spring 2006 she took her company to tour to New York, NY performing “Hopes and Dreams”. And Summer 2006 Aybay got invited to be part of Praxis Project premiring "Sentimientos" and "Detachee". Lather, she participated to Spectrum #22 with her new work "veda", while working with Sarah Berges on a dance movie, and Magan Horniday on a dance video.

Currently Aybay is focusing on choreographing, intercultural and interdisciplinary pieces for her company Kybele Dance Theater, and teaching dance classes at the studios such as Katnap Dance Center.
